 Binary thinking is a problem because it totally misunderstands anything that isn’t a simple either/or. But assessing actual situations and their implications is processing information. Calculating possible outcomes, downstream consequences, and their likelihoods, identifying shades of gray, determining if they rise to the level of significance, etc. If informational analysis isn’t on the table, this can’t even start.
