Is It Time for Mentors to Step up? A New Posting of the Archived CAP Lessons Begins Today. - CL

As I often mention, this is not a news site. It is intended to be a resource for mentors. The archive has grown to over 3000 posts, mostly insights and analysis written by knowledgeable authors that relate to our general content as described on our site heading. While casual readers are welcome, and if you are one - have you ever considered the fact that your reading habit puts you in a very special category?

As a regular or even casual reader here, you have come to understand the world unlike 95 percent or more of your friends and neighbors. Is it time for you to become the mentor in your family, church or community?

I use my archive almost daily. In fact, that was the reason I started it in the first place. I often remembered, when a subject came up - where did I see that? Now I can find stuff almost immediately by word search in my archive!

So, what I will begin today will be actually used to send to a very limited list - but it will also serve as an example for any one visiting this site on the internet. The first post will be the Blogsite Announcement of the CAP Lessons. It deals with understanding the Kingdom of God. Whether you are a Christian or not, it might be worthwhile for you to begin a study to see if what you know - actually is so! You go at your own pace - and you can move ahead by simply going to the CAP Lessons yourself.

Good mentoring! - CL

Christian Action Project (CAP) – Blogsite Announcement

As Christians in America – who are we? Are we in the world, but not of it? What does that mean? Do we simply pursue a relationship with Jesus? What does that mean? And how?
What is being ‘salt and light’? Are there any responsibilities in this world for the Christian and the church? Is Jesus returning soon? Many more questions can be asked.
It is with that intent I have decided to start the Christian Action Project (CAP).
What can we do as Christians – regardless of where we are now and what we know? Nothing is static. Even potted plants grow and change – and we are not potted plants. To those whom much has been given, much is required. God’s grace is not a license for apathy or inaction.
The founding of this country 400 years ago was not done by passive Christians. Why are we passive now? What has come over us that we have become neutered and effectively irrelevant in our culture?
Christ put us here for a purpose. What is that purpose?
This will be about our MISSION as Christians. Do you know what it is? When I have asked that question, I get different answers, but the answer is clearly stated in the Bible. Why the confusion? Might that have something to do with the ineffectiveness of the church on the culture? Who is confusing the church? And why?
It will be a continuing series of posts, from resources that I have either read and/or used in previous studies with other groups or just on my own. I invite not only your reading of the posts, but your prayers, feedback, questions and suggestions for improvement. You can email me at: dacrush@crushlimbraw.com
You can progress at your own pace. I do not know all the answers. No one does, but we all have means of research at our disposal. That is how we learn. Nothing is unchallengeable, except the word of God. That will be our standard. Obviously, interpretation of scripture can be debated. The main point of this is that we need to ‘grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’. We need to be mature Christians, ‘able to discern the difference between good and evil’. (Hebrews 5:11-14).
Our resources provide the track that we will run on, but the proof is in scripture and we will follow the Berean example. This will entail not finding one scripture to ‘support our opinion’. Whatever we learn must fit the context and narrative of the whole Bible. ‘Prove all things and hold on to that which is good’ will be our standard procedure.

The first topic we will tackle will be: “What do you mean – The Kingdom of God? And why do I need to know?”
