Ending Divorce with Disincentives - by Vox Day - (Kentucky and China are showing how.....- CL)

A new law providing equal custody has reduced divorce by 25 percent in Kentucky:

In 2018, Kentucky became the first state to pass a law making equally shared custody the default arrangement in divorces and separations. Four other states—Arkansas, West Virginia, Florida and Missouri—have since passed their own versions of Kentucky’s custody bill. Around 20 more are considering or close to passing similar laws, according to an analysis by the National Parents Organization.

The law has become a model for other states, not least because Kentucky’s divorce rate has plummeted. Between 2016 and 2023 it fell 25%, compared with a nationwide decline of 18%, according to an analysis by the National Center for Family & Marriage Research at Bowling Green State University.

Of course, as the attached article demonstrates, these excellent results don’t prevent the anti-civilizational forces of feminism from trying to invent phantom flaws by appealing to their own imaginations.

Sure, there have probably been some cases of abuse committed by fathers who retain custody. But there is no mention of the abuse committed by mothers with custody, which far exceeds that committed by fathers, to say nothing of the abuse committed by the rotating series of the ex-wife’s boyfriends who plague the lives of many children of divorce......

...Indeed, Kentucky and other states would do well to imitate China, which further disincentivizes divorce by refusing to grant any property rights or claim to future income to a divorcing spouse. I’ll bet that the elimination of alimony, claims to join property, and female custody would reduce divorce to less than 10 percent of what it is today.

Given the obvious success of the equal custody experiment, imagine how much more success would likely come of an experiment in paternal custody. There will always be women willing to walk away from their families in search of personal fulfillment, but the number is probably a small fraction of those willing to do so if they can maintain their previous lifestyles sans the husbands who provide them.

If women want to live on their own, then let them live on their own and survive on their own. Society prospered when children were assumed to be in the custody of their father and it is on the verge of collapse in the aftermath of the inverse. If Western civilization is going to not only survive, but again thrive, it is going to be necessary to eradicate every last vestige of feminism from society.

If not, then China and other cultures that reject feminism are going to leave it behind.
