Self-respecting men aren’t interested in second-class treatment
...The thing is, you are who you are. You are the sum total of your experiences. This guy was obviously interested in the young woman despite her past; he doesn’t appear to have had a problem with it per se. What he had a problem with was being treated like a second-class, lower-status man to whom she was observably less attracted than his predecessors.
And, I think, he was right to not only have a problem with being treated that way, but pass on a potential partner who would always consider herself to have settled for him.
In sports, there is a saying: as you practice, so you play. If you were a party girl, then you’re a party girl and you should comport yourself accordingly with the opposite sex. Your sexual history is not a dress that can be taken off and replaced with a nice, conservative “I am now ready for a serious relationship with a lower-status man” outfit. Being consistent doesn’t mean that no man is going to wife you up, it just means you’re advertising what you’re actually selling.
