I am a slow
learner – a plodder would be a better description – relentless, but still a
plodder. I have also considered myself to be a Bible student – I regularly read
and study it for insights into life and culture, as well as history.
It wasn’t
until three years ago that a plain statement in the Bible – multiple times I
might add – slapped me in the face. Judaism is NOT
Old Testament religion – Jesus said so – REPEATEDLY! Yet, it took me
decades to get through my pre-suppositional indoctrination to get that through
my thick noggin. As I have said – discovering truth is
a process, not an end state – for us mortals!
When Jesus
called out the Pharisees in John 8:44 - 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out
your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding
to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native
language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. – was He kidding or
just using meaningless rhetoric? Furthermore, He was constantly reminding them -
by quoting scripture after scripture – that they were NOT following the
teachings of Moses – whom they claimed to be their mentor.
When that
revelation hit me, it was like a two by four between the eyes – OUCH!
We also have
empirical
evidence – “there is
also what is commonly known as “Judaism”. That, by the way, is also a misnomer,
at least if by “Judaism” you refer the faith of the Old Testament, the faith of
the Ancient Israel, the “God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our
forefathers”. Modern “Judaism” which was created well after the destruction
of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70AD. Modern “Judaism” ought be to called
“Pharisaic Talmudism” and its true creators are Shimon bar Yochia, Maimonides (aka
“Rambam” in the video below), Joseph Karo and Isaac Luria. The reason
why this religion ought to be referred to as Pharisaic Talmudism is modern
Judaism is the continuation of the sect
of the Pharisees (the only Jewish sect which survived the
destruction of Jerusalem and of the Temple – all modern forms of “Judaism”
trace their roots to the Pharisees) and that its main source of authority is
the Talmud, a collection of writings based on the ideas of the sect of the
Pharisees and complied from the beginning of the 2nd century.”
Conclusion: Judaism = Talmudism
