Dueling Feedback Loops = BAD THINGS - by Denninger

Medical expenditures have exploded as a percentage of GDP since the 1970s, going from ~4% of the economy to 20% today.

There's a problem with corrupt systems: They potentiate their own expansion through both covert and overt means.

In the realm of medical expenditures this is especially nasty because not only does such an act result in a huge amount of money being effectively stolen, and when the human condition is involved its not just money -- it is also human suffering intentionally inflicted.

This is a form of  slavery although it seems to always go unrecognized by the contemporary punditry as it doesn't feature the usual balls, chains and armed guards ready to kill anyone who tries to escape it.  That just makes it more-dangerous and pernicious however, in that everyone recognizes a gun to the head as a threat: An entity that seeks to extract all your money when something bad befalls you, even though it doesn't work, and then even worse they collude with others to make the bad thing more-likely is in many ways worse than conventional perceptions of slavery in that the subterfuge makes it tougher to combat and even tends to lead people toward clamoring for "insurance" against it which is even more-stupid.
