The Climate CO₂ Hoax, by Mark Keenan - The Unz Review

 https://www.unz.com/article/the-climate-co%e2%82%82-hoax/

Summary

The debate over climate change is often presented as though the science were settled and the policy response self-evident. Yet, as this article has shown, many distinguished scientists continue to dispute key elements of the prevailing narrative. Climate models have struggled to reproduce observed trends, the highest-emissions scenarios that underpinned years of alarming predictions are no longer regarded as plausible, and the engineering realities of replacing fossil fuels remain far more complex than is commonly acknowledged.

At the same time, climate policy has become closely intertwined with powerful financial institutions, major corporations and extensive public subsidy programmes. Whether viewed as prudent environmental stewardship or as a far-reaching restructuring of the global economy, these developments deserve far greater public scrutiny than they currently receive.

None of this implies that genuine environmental problems do not exist. Industrial pollution, habitat destruction, biodiversity loss and the unsustainable exploitation of natural resources remain serious challenges. However, conflating these genuine environmental problems with an exaggerated narrative of CO₂-driven climate catastrophe risks diverting attention and resources away from more immediate and demonstrable concerns.

For more than three decades, the public has largely been exposed to one-sided media coverage that has discouraged serious examination of competing scientific viewpoints. Yet science advances through evidence, open debate and continual reassessment—not through political consensus or media repetition. Given the profound economic and social consequences of Net Zero policies, the assumptions upon which they rest should remain open to rigorous scientific scrutiny.

Readers wishing to explore these issues in greater depth can find a more detailed examination in my book CO2 Climate Hoax – How Bankers Hijacked the Real Environment Movement.

Author’s Note: I have no financial relationship with, or funding from, any fossil-fuel company, renewable-energy company, financial institution or lobbying organisation. Nor should this article be interpreted as a defence of the fossil-fuel industry. Like many major industries, oil, gas and mining companies have sought to influence public policy and have been associated with significant environmental damage in many parts of the world. My purpose is simply to examine the scientific evidence and the institutional, political and financial incentives associated with contemporary climate policy.
