Today I read the comments of a political pundit who tried to explain
away an election result simply by using past election data and thus predicting
the future. The only thing he didn’t even mention was the possible motive for
the voters to vote as they did – and the forces in play behind that motivation
- which are much larger than simply an election.
We often act that way ourselves when we focus only on what is
obvious to our sight or understanding. We see the effects – can we see the
causes?
The Millennials are aware of their poor job prospects, but don’t
relate that to any specific cause. In fact, politically speaking, they would
vote for the same people who perpetuate their problem.
We look at the society and culture around us - and Christians will
bewail the results we are now reaping – and never connect our culpability in
that process.
Why are we so imperceptive that we cannot connect the dots of the
laws of cause and effect?
As I mentioned in the narrative on my website, most people expect
their politicians to fix and/or correct our nation’s problems – but nothing
seems to change – why?
There is no one answer, but a good place to start would be to
examine our own lives, family and community – and learn, one day at a time –
and then help others to do the same.
Culture is US! Without changes in US – nothing will change!
There is no other way. There is no quick fix, and that is what our
website and blog are all about.
It’s up to each of us to become more a part of the solution rather
than part of the problem.
If we don’t – prepare to be blindsided!
