Is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.

One
of the things I like about Pres. Trump is that he doesn’t back down in a
political fight. For decades I’ve watched Republicans back down over policy
issues, and Democrats have taken advantage of the perceived weakness.
Democrats
know that Republicans will almost always back down if pressure is put on them
by the Democrats and media. Pres. Trump most often doubles down on Twitter.
This infuriates liberals and the media and upsets Republicans. They claim that
“he’s not acting presidential.”
When
you’re in a fight over life and death issues, how money is spent, and how much
control the government has over our lives, I’m not looking for some subjective
“presidential” response; I want someone who’s going to fight legislatively.
This
is not to say that Pres. Trump has done everything I and others want him to do,
but he’s gotten more done than past Republican Presidents have been able to
accomplish. One would think that a majority Republican Congress would get
behind the street fighter and bring the needed drastic changes to our
government. Unfortunately, they’re afraid of what the media will write about
them and Chuck Schumer and Nany Pelosi will say about them.
Their
actions remind of this scene from a Seinfeld episode:
Republicans
are notorious for apologizing. Consider the former Utah Republican
Congresswoman Mia Love:
Former Republican
Representative Mia Love strongly rebuked and demanded an apology for President
Donald Trump’s divisive tweets attacking her former Democratic colleague,
Representative Elijah Cummings of Maryland. However, Love also insisted that
Republicans are not racist, as a number of critics have argued.
“In the recent tweets and the
things that I have seen, enough is enough,” Love, who previously represented
Utah and was one of only two black GOP members of the House of Representatives
during her tenure, said Sunday during
a panel discussion on CNN’s State
of the Union.
“It really is disheartening,”
she continued. “The greatest threat that we face is the division of America and
I don’t believe that any president should be playing a part in dividing
America.”
It’s
no wonder she’s the “Former Republican
Representative Mia Love.”
Recent
news stories prove that Pres. Trump was right. More than a billion dollars of
our tax dollars were spent in the Baltimore area. Where did it go? Where’s the
accounting?
Then
this happened. Conservative activists volunteered “to help citizens in
the poverty-stricken areas of
Baltimore. The effort was organized in the aftermath of the uproar over President Trump’s criticisms of
the city and of Rep. Elijah Cummings, whose
Congressional district runs through Baltimore.”
One
would think that a noble deed like this would be praised. It wasn’t. The Baltimore Sun was
skeptical of the motives of those who gave of their time to help. The real
reason these volunteers did what they did, the Baltimore Sun pontificated, is because
they are Trump supporters and want to make Democrats look bad:
Whatever he says his motives
were, [The organizer] Mr. [Scott] Presler’s presence in Baltimore reinforces
the tired image of our failing urban cores. That the poor people in this
dilapidated city can’t take care of their own neighborhoods and all the public
officials around them have failed as well. The bureaucratic, all-talk Democrats
strike again. If a crowd of volunteers could clean up 12 tons of trash in 12
hours, how incompetent and helpless must Baltimoreans be if they can’t manage
it in decades, right?
I
doubt that was their motive, but their actions did make the Democrats look bad.
Mia
Love wants Trump to be nice to elected officials like Elijah Cummings believing
that it will make a difference. It won’t because Republicans have been playing
the apology game for decades with no results.
No
matter what conservatives do, Democrats will continue to play their game by
their rules, and anyone who gets in their way be damned:
Conservatives literally cannot win
with liberals. If they don’t step up to do their part and instead continue to
complain behind a keyboard, they’re “part of the problem” and “racists.” But if
they do volunteer, they’re still up to no good because they’re making Democrats
look bad. Oh, and they’re still “racists.”
This is why we should never back down
when it comes to our principles.
Tom
Petty sang it best:
Well,
I won’t back down
No, I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down
No, I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down
****
Well I know what’s right
I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin’ me around
But I’ll stand my ground
And I won’t back down
I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin’ me around
But I’ll stand my ground
And I won’t back down
