His “skunk works” concept of small, autonomous teams tasked with innovation outside the normal bureaucratic structure is literally the same thing as the Sigma management strategy described in the corpocracy chapter of SIGMA GAME. Peters saw the hierarchy operating in every excellent company he studied. He just didn’t have a name for it and couldn’t figure out why some companies had it and others didn’t, because no one had yet identified and articulated the concepts required to do so.

Where Peters deserves genuine credit is in his contempt for bureaucratic sclerosis and his recognition that management is fundamentally about people rather than systems. His attack on the “rational model” of management and the idea that if you get the strategy right and the structure right and the systems right, excellence will follow automatically is entirely correct. It is is correct for the reason that the SSH identifies: because strategy, structure, and systems are only as good as the men operating them, and those men are not perfectly interchangeable components. A brilliant strategy executed by a Delta who has been promoted into a leadership role he hates will reliably produce worse results than a mediocre strategy executed by an Alpha who knows how to inspire his team and a Bravo who knows how to operationalize the vision.

The fundamental problem with all the Smart Boy reasoning about things is that they always try to reduce everything to a simple binary with no tangents or consequences. And less-intellectually challenged ones will try to add a caveat about only “high-skill labor” or some other such nonsense.

But the reality is, has always been, and will always be that a high-skill foreign laborer comes attached with a low-skill wife, several useless children, three criminal cousins and two sets of useless parents. Except when the high-skill foreign laborer is coming from a similarly-advanced and compatible culture, the net impact is usually very negative, as we’re now seeing in Germany, the UK, the United States, and even Japan.

When Korean immigration into Japan continues to be an observable problem 70 years after the fact, there is no chance that the various third-world immigrations into the European world are going to end well for anyone. This is where the SSH meets cultural decline. This is where Sigma Game meets Veriphysics. And this is where you, the young man reading this, are today.

You can listen to the Red Pillers and use your knowledge of what is true to better serve your appetites. It’s a legitimate option, and not the most unpleasant one. You can live for yourself, live for today, and let tomorrow and the future fend for itself. That is the Boomer philosophy, and it’s not going to work out for you any better than it has for them.

You can listen to the Black Pillers and do your best to ignore everything around you and survive from one day to the next in a shell of indifference and apathy. This, too, is a legitimate option, and it is perhaps the emotionally safest one. This is the Generation X philosophy, and it’s not going to work out for you any better than it has for us.

Or you can read the Bible, you can return to the church, and you can take it back and transform it back into the weapon against a fallen world that it was, that it is, and that it will always be. It won’t be easy. It won’t be immediate. But it will happen.

For when the men lead, the women will follow. They always have and they always will.
