So, you have looked around and realized that the world is not how
it should be. Things that were good in the past have decayed. Our culture
is crumbling around us. We see things that are good and proper being ignored or
even intentionally dismantled, replaced with obscenities and evil. Whether we
are talking about governmental policies or business practices, or even
educational opportunities, we can no longer rely on things as they are. They do
not produce an end result that indicates a healthy, godly culture. So what do
we do? As I see it, we have three choices.
First, the thing we cannot do, though it is an option, is to just
stick our heads back in the sand and ignore it. Look, it is time to make a
stand, not just let things progress down this path to destruction.
Secondly, we can point out problems. We can gripe about them. We
can write articles, blog posts, and generally complain. Now, I do think we need
to do this. It is important. Without calling out the problems, nothing will be
done. However, we cannot stop there.
Third, we have to address these problems, whatever
they may be, and begin to do something about them. We point them out, and then
enact change. The time for “go along to get along” is past. In fact, it was
never a good choice, but so many of us just figured things will work themselves
out. Unfortunately, that is not the case. We have to take real action.
So what can we do? We must engage is both options 2 and 3. Both
are important, and your own skills and abilities may dictate that you focus on
one or the other. However, working in tandem, we must accomplish both tasks. So
here are a few specific examples of what we can do, though the list is certainly
not exhaustive.
- Be engaged in the political process. While the “big” elections
tend to get the most attention, we can be engaged in local politics, too.
This does not mean you should run for office, though that is certainly an
option for some. Even if you cannot serve in an elected capacity, your
local officials need to know who you are and what you stand for. In my
local town, we had a county commissioner running for reelection this past
year. He had not done a good job, but is well known in the community and
seemed to have the inside track on getting his seat back. So what did we
do? We found a guy who offered a better choice, we supported him, and we
got him elected. If he doesn’t follow through, then we will get rid of him
next time. This is something we can all do. Whether it is a mayor,
sheriff, or any other local office, get good people in there. Use that
same principle for state representatives, state senators, and on up to
national office.
- Use resources that are consistent with our world view. We recently ran a post with such resources.
Make it your habit to support them, whether with finances or just by using
them. The more we spread these healthy alternatives, the more people will
be exposed to them and the more impact they will have.
- Use your own skills and talents to produce more
alternatives. Already, good folks have created alternatives to Wikipedia,
Twitter, and more. Other alternatives are in the works. We need folks to step
up and create even more of these. If your skill set allows you to help
produce those, then go for it. Many, maybe most, of these won’t catch on,
but so what? Some will. The more that do, the more that can follow. We
just need traction to get these things to succeed.
- Stop complaining about those who are stepping up.
Rather than trying to be a “moderate,” be an extremist. This is no time
for moderation. As Barry Goldwater stated: “Extremism in the defense of
liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no
virtue.” We have no patience for moderates. We want wholesale change and
will work to make it happen.
- Network with likeminded folks. Recently, a commenter on
this site pointed out that too many people spend time complaining and
writing articles, but not enough time actually doing anything. While the
majority of his post was incorrect, on this one point, he was spot on. As
I stated above, writing articles and posts is important, and that is one
of the reasons for this site. But never think that we do nothing else. Men
of the West network in meatspace. We know each other. We do things
together. We plan things. We have much more in the works. One of the
realities of a site like this is that we need a good-sized readership
before some of those other things can be put into play, but they are in
the works.
- Use your talents to create alternative business. Our
friends at Crypto.Fashion make t-shirts that support our position. You can
also start such things. Maybe not t-shirts, but in whatever field you have
experience, talent, and desire.
Put your talents to good use.
First, use those skills to advance the Kingdom of God. Be engaged with your
church. If you do nothing else, do that. But when you are ready to do even
more, then follow through with tangible activities. It is not our job to tell
you exactly what to do. You know your own local issues, needs, and what your
abilities are. So be creative. While we have plans for many things, if you get
one of them going before us, we won’t be upset. We will be excited. We want to
awaken other Men of the West and prod them into action. If you go back to the
very first post we ever had, Lector pointed out:
At its heart the
Culture War is about the rules that make up our civilization. The progressive
left has been working to loosen and change these rules and expectations for
centuries… and we on the right have let them.
No more.
We are not
Conservatives. We are not the mere weights dragging along… slowing down
the plow. We are not the resistance. We are here to put those rules back where
they belong. We are here to take back our birthrights. We are here to safeguard
and rebuild Western Civilization.
We are the
Takers.
If you find
yourself thinking about hoisting the Black Flag Mr. Mencken spoke of, then
please, allow me to be the first to say…
Welcome to The Hard Right.
In the second
article, I argued that:
In clear
language, our call is to our fellow Westerners, those who should be strong
followers of Christ, but have fallen along the wayside. Men shall be men,
nothing more and nothing less. They must take their place at the head of the
family and lead. They must take pride in their work, providing support for
those under their care. Women must assume their proper role, as helpmeets
to their men. Egalitarianism is a satanic lie and we reject it.
Abortion,
homosexuality, governmental abuse, and other such abominations must be
recognized for what they are – evil. We fight against these and all evil,
giving glory to God, recognizing that he uses imperfect vessels to accomplish
His desires.
As such, we
recognize that none of us are perfect, either. Yet we willingly align ourselves
with the One who is perfect in every way. We strive to follow His lead because
we “know that for those who love God, all things work together for good
for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
Some day, every knee will bow to the Lord Jesus. Our hope is
that our culture will be full of those who do so willingly. The path we
currently follow will not result in that end. For that reason, we declare our
intentions to stand in the gap, and lead our people back to the truth. To
paraphrase the Prophet Jeremiah, there is in our hearts, as it were, a burning
fire shut up in our bones, and we are weary with holding it in, and we
cannot (Cf. Jeremiah 20:9).

These things have always been our goal. The time has
come for each of you to do your part. Maybe you will begin producing podcasts,
a youtube channel, or some other means of spreading the message. Perhaps you
will engage in local activities, working with youth, creating alternative to
liberal sites (following the example of Infogalactic or Gab). Maybe you will
come up with something the rest of us have not even though of. Fantastic. Do it.
