There’s something partisans of the center-right and center-left could do: Instead of discreetly murmuring that, say, Merkel or Biden got immigration policy wrong or that it was morally and economically right but politically foolish, they can grasp the point that control over borders is a sine qua non of national sovereignty, that mass migration without express legislative consent is politically intolerable, that migrants ought to be expected to accept, not reject, the values of the host country and that hosts should not be expected to adapt themselves to values at odds with a liberal society.

Forget that. The nationalist position is moral, just, and perfectly easy to understand.

'Security guarantees' in form of weapon deliveries or weapon production within Ukraine are not sustainable.

The only real 'security guarantee' Ukraine can get is through a piece agreement with Russia. This will require Ukraine  to give up on land, to commit to neutrality and to behave well.

Finland’s experience has been cited from the start of the war in Ukraine—both as a model to avoid and one perhaps to follow. Mannerheim’s speech was circulated in President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office in the first months of the war, but was put to one side.

The peace that was imposed on Finland in 1944 was hardly just. But it could have been worse. Finland handed over 10% of its territory, including Karelia and half of Lake Ladoga. Its army was restricted, as was its ability to join NATO. It was forced to let Russia lease a naval base on Porkkala, a peninsula in the Gulf of Finland just 30km from the capital. And, because it had joined forces with Hitler, it was forced to pay reparations to the Soviet Union which had attacked it five years earlier.

To much of the world, this was a defeat. To Mr Stubb, whose father was born in the territory annexed by the Soviet Union, and whose summer house stands in Porkkala, back in Finnish hands since the 1950s, it looks different.

The simple secret of living peacefully next to a mighty neighbor, Finland had found, was to behave well:

Lacking any security guarantees from the West or anyone else, Finland exercised this independence not by turning anti-Russian—which would almost certainly have resulted in another invasion—but by building one of the most successful countries in Europe. “People didn’t wait for perfect conditions. They worked with what they had,” Risto Penttilä, a foreign-policy expert, explains.

In politics and in the media Finland carefully avoided anything that could anger Moscow. To most outsiders, what became known as “Finlandisation” was a servile form of appeasement. To Mr Stubb and most of his countrymen, “it was the definition of realpolitik at a time when we did not have a choice.” It allowed Finland to stick to its core values: universal education, social welfare and the rule of law.

The 'Finlandization' of Ukraine, if done seriously, would satisfy major Russian demands - neutrality, demilitarization and denazification. It is a realistic base for successful peace talks.

I am encourage that the Economist, as a major mainstream outlet, has picked up on this.

For the idea to ripen it will have to wait until the powers-that-be have recognized that all other variants of 'security guarantees', be they troops on the ground or weapon-fabrications, are rather pipe-dreams than serious plans.

The answer to skyrocketing health insurance costs - American Thinker

 The cure for healthcare starts with what is called the Transfer. Complete the repeal of all World War II wage freezes, including the employer-supported health benefit. That “benefit” represents wages earned by the employee but paid to an insurance company. Transfer those funds from insurance payments to the employee as compensation and make those funds tax-free if expended for medical costs.

The advantage to employers is obvious. They no longer will be held hostage to ever-increasing increased cost of insurance premiums, scheduled to increase 9% next year.

The advantage of the Transfer to consumers is equally apparent. If the additional funds were placed in a new, no-limit HSA, 157 million Americans would have enough money to shop for direct-pay medical and surgical care. Furthermore, insurance companies will have to offer what healthy patients need and want: catastrophic, high-deductible health coverage. Insurance sellers will have to compete for patients’ dollars rather than what they do now: compete for contracts with health plans and obey stringent federal insurance regulations.

Another advantage of the Transfer is to make much of the federal regulatory apparatus unnecessary and available for DOGE-like cuts in wasteful government spending although on a much greater scale – hundreds of billions — than the paltry $9 billion in the Rescissions Act of 2025.

The DEA also plays a key role fighting against drug trafficking, which helps to eliminate unwanted competitors and in the end helps to keep prices sufficiently high for the interested parties to make great profits, all tax-free! Given this interaction, it is safe to say that it is eventually the US deep state that is in charge of the world’s drug trafficking.

 In the labored daze of AI hype and GDP "growth," few seem to notice the workforce is tired of being exploited as an uncomplaining resource.

"Great Powers" claim their greatness on prestige technologies and military force, but how do they measure up if we change the metrics to how they treat their workforces. How great are they then? China and the U.S. claim the mantles of "Great Powers" but if we look at how well they treat their workforces, both rate poorly.

What matters in assessing the workforce isn't just wages; what matters is the entire quality of life. In this regard, childcare matters, because 1) without children, the "Great Power" has no future, and 2) the lives and budgets of workers with children revolve around the ease or difficulty of caring for their children. The "Great Power" state can either do a lot, do a little, or do nothing to help working parents....

....If life is so great for the "Great Power" workforces, then where did laying flat, let it rot, the garbage time of history and the Five No's come from? The Five No's: no house, no car, no extraneous consumption, no marriage and no children......

What I find remarkable about this is how good these men were but this was still not enough to save Judah. These were good leaders, great men, godly men, men who understood the covenant Moses made with God and how obeying it would bring good to their people. They both did everything they could to save their people and it was not enough, the nation still fell.

I cannot help but observe that this is a common trend in history. Once decline is set in then there is not really much that even the best leaders can do to stop it. At best they can delay the collapse.

This might sound like I am black pilling, but I am not. Israel did not end with the exile. The Judean people went into exile and came back out the other side refined. They learnt from their mistakes and their society lasted for many centuries after the return from exile. This teaches us some important things.

God obviously wants nations to repent and turn back to him. He is gracious and even though Judah deserved to be judged way sooner he gave them a lot of chances, and some good kings stemmed the tide of decline. But eventually God will allow the collapse to happen and this process refines a nation. Australia has never been through this process, neither has the US, which means it is in our futures. We can learn from God’s word about how to delay the decline, how to ride it out and how to come through it a stronger more godly people.

Once societies decline and fall they never get back to their former glory. But this is not a bad thing. A nation’s greatness is not determined by how many nations it can dominate. A nation’s greatness is found in how well it can steward its people in faith towards God, and in maintaining its dignity as a nation. Sometimes peoples have to learn this the hard way.

There is no hope that American children will ever again receive an education.  To be a school teacher today you have to have been an education major in collage and received various certificates.  The educational departments are essentially anti-white ideological propaganda societies.  The goal is not to teach but to reconstitute society in a DEI manner.

In my day the math teacher did not have an educational degree.  She had a math degree.  The English teacher had a degree in English.  The History teacher a degree in history. The chemistry teacher’s degree was in chemistry.  They taught because they loved their subject and tried to pass their appreciation on to us.  Teachers like I had no longer exist.

The concept of a pure meritocracy is inherently and uniquely post-WWII American. No other culture shares it, although the degree to which they ignore merit and are content to simply parasitize and pillage the existing capital and infrastucture varies widely from culture to culture.

It’s a uniquely stupid philosophy, since it is, by definition, a self-terminating one. All it takes, as we’ve learned, is one X to find a position in HR, in the immigration office, or on the board, and a port of entry has been established to bring in more X until enough influence has been brought in to start denying entry to everyone who is Not-X.

It’s a very simple exercise in game theory, and the extent to which the American executive class failed game theory can be seen in the percentage of U.S. CEOs and board members who are not American.
