A man laments the SSH rank of his new boss:
For probably the first time in my life I’ve worked under a delta leader for an extended period of time. He’s a good dude and lacks any leadership chops. I hate it, and I see why it creates resentment.
If you’re a delta put in a leadership position, try to adopt the attitude “I will tear someone’s throat out, internal or external, for the sake of my guys”.
Inaction when your team is getting screwed is a one-way bullet train to be hated.
Now, I’m not privy to any of the details, but on the basis of what we know about Delta strengths and weaknesses, I think there are probably three problems compounding each other here:
Delta narcissism
Delta passiveness
Delta conflict-avoidance
Deltas always struggle in management and leadership positions because they don’t take personal interest or accountability in their subordinates or the situations faced by those subordinates. It’s not as if they try to set them up to fail, but that’s not infrequently the result.
