Sea Monsters Threaten the World With Their Tridents By Edward Curtin

Sometimes you wake up from a dream to realize it is telling you to pay close attention to the depth of its message, especially when it is linked to what you have been thinking about for days.  I have just come up from a dream in which I went down to the cellar of the house I grew up in because the basement light was on and the back cellar door had been opened by a mysterious man who stood outside.

I will spare you additional details or an interpretation, except to say that my daytime thoughts concerned the media spectacle surrounding the Titan submersible that imploded two miles down in the ocean’s cellar while trying to give its passengers a view of the wreck of the Titanic, the “unsinkable” ship nicknamed “the Millionaire’s Special.”  The ship that no one could sink except an ice cube in the drink that swallowed it.

Cellar dreams are well-known as the place where we as individuals and societies can face the flickering shadows that we refuse to face in conscious life.  Carl Jung called it “the shadow.”  Such shadows, when unacknowledged and repressed, have a tendency to autonomously surface and erupt, not only leading to personal self-destruction but that of whole societies.  History is replete with examples.  My dream’s mysterious stranger had lit my way through some dark thoughts and opened the door to a possible escape.  He got me thinking about what all of us tend to want to deny or avoid because its implications are so monstrous.

The obsession with the alleged marvels of technology together with naming them after ancient Greek and Roman gods are fixations of elite technologues who have lost what Spengler called “living inner religiousness” but wish to show they know the classical names even though they miss the meaning of these myths.  Such myths tell the stories of things that never happened but always are.  Appropriating the ancient names without irony – such as naming a boat Titanic or a submersible Titan – unveils the hubristic ignorance of people who have never descended to the underworld to learn its lessons.  Relinquishing  their sense of god-like power doesn’t occur to them, nor does the shadow side of their Faustian dreams.

They will never name some machine Nemesis, for that would expose the fact that they have exceeded the eternal limits with their maniacal technological extremism, and, to paraphrase Camus, dark Furies will swoop down to destroy them.

Nietzsche termed the result nihilism.  Once people have killed God, machines are a handy replacement in societies that worship the illusion of technique and are scared to death of death and the machines that they invented to administer it.

The latter is not a matter fit to print since it must remain in the dark basement of the public’s consciousness.  If it were publicized, the game of nihilistic death-dealing would be exposed.  Because power, money, and technology are the ruling deities today, the mass media revolve around publicizing their marvels in spectacular fashion, and when “accidents” occur, they never point out the myth of the machines, or what Lewis Mumford called “The Pentagon of Power.”  Tragedies occur, they tell us, but they are minor by-products of the marvels of technology.

But if these media would take us down to see the truth beneath the oceans’ surfaces, we would see not false monsters such as the Titanic or Moby Dick or cartoon fictions such as Disney’s Monstro the whale, but the handiwork of thousands of mad Captain Ahabs who have attached the technologues “greatest” invention – nuclear weapons – to nuclear-powered ballistic submarines.

Trident submarines. First strike submarines, such as the USS Ohio.

These Trident subs live and breathe in the cellars of our minds where few dare descend.  They are controlled by jackals in Washington and the Pentagon with polished faces in well-appointed offices with coffee machines and tasty snacks.  Madmen.  They hum through the deep waters ready to strike and destroy the world.  Few hear them, almost none see them, most prefer not to know of them.

But wait, what’s the buzz, tell me what’s happening: the Titan and the Titanic, wealthy voyeurs intent on getting a glance into the sepulchre of those long dead, while six hundred or so desperate migrants drown in the Mediterranean sea from which the ancient gods were born.  These are the priorities of a society that worships the wealthy; a society of the spectacle that entertains and distracts while the end of the world cruises below consciousness.

The United States alone has fourteen such submarines armed with Trident missiles constantly prowling the ocean depths, while the British have four.  Named for the three-pronged weapon of the Greek and Roman sea gods, Poseidon and Neptune respectively, these submarine-launched ballistic missiles, manufactured by Lockheed Martin (“We deliver innovative solutions to the world’s toughest challenges”), can destroy the world in a flash. Destroy it many times over. A final solution.

While the United States has abrogated all treaties that offered some protection from their use and has declared their right of first use, it has consistently pushed toward a nuclear confrontation with Russia and China.  Today – 2023 June – we stand on the precipice of nuclear annihilation as never before.

A single Trident submarine has 20 Trident missiles, each carrying 12 independently targeted warheads for a total of 240 warheads, with each warhead approximately 40 times more destructive than the Hiroshima bomb.  Fourteen submarines times 240 equals 3,360 nuclear warheads times 40 equals 134,400 Hiroshimas.  Such are the lessons of mathematics in absurd times.

James W. Douglass, the author of the renown JFK and the Unspeakable and a longtime activist against the Tridents at Ground Zero Center for Non-Violent Action outside the Bangor Submarine Base in Washington state, put it this way in 2015 when asked about Robert Aldridge, the heroic Lockheed Trident missile designer who resigned his position in an act of conscience and became an inspirational force for the campaign against the Tridents and nuclear weapons:

Question: “What did the Nuremberg attorneys say about war crimes that had such a deep impact on Robert Aldridge?”

Douglass: “They said that first-strike weapons and weapons that directly target a civilian population were war crimes in violation of the Nuremberg principles. Those Nuremberg principles, which are the foundations of international law, are violated by both by electronic warfare – which is why we poured blood on the files for electronic warfare [at the base] – and also by the Trident missile system, which is what Robert Aldridge was building.”

Robert Aldridge saw his shadow side.  He went to the cellar of his darkest dreams. He refused to turn away.  He became an inspiration for James and Shelley Douglass and so many others.  He was a man in and of the system, who saw the truth of his complicity in radical evil and underwent a metanoia.  It is possible.

If those missiles are ever launched from the monsters that carry them through the hidden recesses of the world’s oceans, there will never be another Nuremberg Trial to judge the guilty, for the innocent and the guilty will all be dead.

We will have failed to shed light on our darkest shadows.

Writing in another context that pertains to today’s high-flying nuclear madmen whose mythic Greek forbear Icarus would not listen, the poet W. H. Auden put it this way in “MusΓ©e des Beaux Arts”:

About suffering they were never wrong,
The Old Masters: how well they understood
Its human position; how it takes place
While someone else is eating or opening a window or just walking dully along

How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting
For the miraculous birth, there always must be
Children who did not specially want it to happen, skating
On a pond at the edge of the wood:
They never forgot
That even the dreadful martyrdom must run its course
Anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot
Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the torturer’s horse
Scratches its innocent behind on a tree.

In Brueghel’s Icarus, for instance: how everything turns away
Quite leisurely from the disaster; the ploughman may
Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry,
But for him it was not an important failure; the sun shone
As it had to on the white legs disappearing into the green
Water; and the expensive delicate ship that must have seen
Something amazing, a boy falling out of the sky
Had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on.

We turn away at our peril.

Bob Aldridge, Presente! Posted on May 14, 2022 by Leonard Eiger

Bob Aldridge, Presente!

Editor’s Note: Our dear friend and colleague Bob Aldridge joined the Cloud of Witnesses on April 31st. The following offerings, including two from Ground Zero co-founders Jim and Shelley Douglass, are an introductory tribute to Bob. There will be more to come. Check back at the Ground Zero home page for other posts.

We wouldn’t be here without Bob Aldridge! By Leonard Eiger

It is no hyperbole to say that Bob Aldridge is the reason that Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action exists and continues to resist Trident. Bob’s story is one of faith, awareness, family and courage. Ground Zero co-founder Jim Douglass reminds us that it was “Bob’s courageous witness that alerted many to the first-strike capabilities of Trident.” His legacy continues to enrich and guide our work.

Back in the early 1970s Bob was a missile designer at Lockheed Missiles and Space Corporation working on the first Trident missile design (the Trident missile would be built for the new OHIO Class “Trident” ballistic missile submarines and would carry thermonuclear warheads). Bob recognized something about the maneuvering reentry vehicle that he was designing; it was designed “to home-in on underground missile silos in a nuclear first strike” (Ground Zero Newsletter, Vol. 7, Issue 3, July 2002). Bob’s conscience got the better of him (something that has not happened to the vast majority of nuclear weapons scientists or engineers), and after a family retreat following Christmas 1972 Bob submitted his resignation letter to Lockheed.

A year later Bob met with Jim and Shelley Douglass and told them of his remarkable journey from missile designer to student of nonviolence, and briefed them on the plans to create what would be known as Sub Base Bangor (West Coast home of the new Trident fleet) on the shores of the Hood Canal in Washington State, just 20 miles from Seattle. And so the seeds of Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action were sown by a person with the courage to follow his convictions.

In 1977 Jim Douglass and John Williams found 3.8 acres of land with a small house right next to the Bangor fence. What a find! A year later Bob sent Jim and Shelley Douglass an urgent letter warning of the first strike threat that Trident represented (the first Trident submarine was commissioned in November 1981). First strike meant that Trident would likely be used to deliver a preemptive surprise attack of overwhelming force on the Soviet Union.

The Douglasses and many others continued building Ground Zero (which was preceded by the Pacific Life Community) as they worked in common resistance to Trident; blocking the railroad tracks on which the “White Trains” brought the nuclear warheads and rocket motors, leafletting at the gates of Bangor and blocking the gate, and building awareness of the dangers (as well as the immorality and illegality) of Trident and all nuclear weapons.

It has been nearly 50 years since the Christmas miracle that gave us the gift of this community of nonviolence known as Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action. The Douglasses have grown into other peacemaking endeavors, and other dedicated peacemakers have joined in over the years. Out of those fertile seeds planted by Bob Aldridge (and nurtured by many others) has grown a strong and beautiful tree, the fruit of which is a community of people dedicated to the principles of nonviolence and a world free of the spectre of nuclear weapons.

A reflection by Shelley Douglass

It’s probably not fair to say there’d be no Trident campaign without Bob Aldridge.  I’m sure someone would have realized the first-strike capability of Trident eventually, and people would have worked against it.

But THIS Trident campaign could not have happened – be happening – without Bob, and Janet, and their family.  THIS Trident campaign began with the person who was designing the re-entry vehicle for the missile system.  THIS Trident campaign began with a family decision to non-cooperate with evil.  THIS campaign began with a Trident designer, and a conscientious family making a decision to resist, together.

That’s why, from the very beginning, this campaign has seen Trident workers as potential partners in the work.  It’s why we leafleted for so long, why we try to build relationships and community across fences and lines.  It’s why so many people who once disagreed have become part of the community.  It’s why we’ve tried to include and respect relationships and family ties. Bob planted the seed for those attitudes, and the seed has borne good fruit.

Bob did a lot of other good things of course – explaining the first strike system, analyzing nuclear policy, and lately writing about the goodness underlying the universe, and inviting us to make it visible.  Those are all gifts from Bob, but the first best gift was his example which did indeed make goodness visible.  May we continue to follow him.

Bob Aldridge, Help UsBy Jim Douglass

Bob Aldridge never stopped seeing, changing, and acting on every truthful urge in his life,

from a Trident missile designer

to a proactive nonviolent warrior

to a satyagrahi for earthly harmony

to a pilgrim in the Goodness Field of the universe.

Bob kept striving for a way of transformation for each and all

before it was too late for us all

in a blast of fire at the end of it all.

So a prayer through Bob at the heart of the Goodness Field on this Mothers Day:

Give us the eyes to see

and the urge to walk

in union with all on Earth.

May we see our opposing parts

as the heart and soul of who we are,

members of our family

on both sides of our fence.

May we walk together,

mothers and fathers,

sisters and brothers,

on the moral arc of the universe,

into the arms of Love.

See Bob in 1980 speaking about the realities of the Trident nuclear weapon system and of his transition to activism.

Alarm Bells - Vox Popoli

The great Martin van Creveld doesn’t like some of the historical patterns he has noticed are starting to play out:

In the Middle East, the alarms bells are ringing. There are several reasons for this, all of them important and all well-able to combine with each other and give birth to the largest conflagration the region has witnessed in decades. The first is the imminent demise of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, alias Abu Maazen. Now 88 years old, his rule started in 2005 when he took over from Yasser Arafat. Unlike Arafat, who began his career as the leader of a terrorist organization, Abu Mazen was and remains primarily a politician and a diplomat. In this capacity he helped negotiate the 1995 Oslo Agreements between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Movement. Partly for that reason, partly because he opposed his people’s armed uprising (the so-called Second Intifada of 2000-2003) some Israelis saw him as a more pliant partner than his predecessor had been.

It did not work that way. Whether through his own fault, or that of Israel, or both, during all his eighteen years in office Abu Mazen has failed to move a single step closer to a peace settlement. Israel on its part has never stopped building new settlements and is doing so again right now. As a result, Palestinian terrorism and Israeli retaliatory measures in the West Bank in particular are once again picking up, claiming dead and injured almost every day.

Nor is the West Bank the only region where Israelis and Palestinians keep clashing. Just a few weeks have passed since the death, in an Israeli jail and as a result of a hunger strike, of a prominent Palestinian terrorist. His demise made the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in Gaza launch no fewer than a thousand rockets at Israel, leading to Israeli air strikes, leading to more rockets, and so on in the kind of cycle that, over the last twenty years or so, has become all too familiar. Fortunately Hezbollah, another Islamic terrorist organization whose base is Lebanon, did not intervene. It is, however, not at all certain that, should hostilities in and around Gaza resume, it won’t follow up on its leader’s threats to do just that. Certainly it has the capability and the plans; all that is needed is a decision.

To his concerns about Jordan and Iran, I would add the following. First, Syria is looking for revenge for the frequent air attacks of the last few years in support of the anti-Assad rebels. Second, and much more importantly, both China and Russia are more closely allied with the Arabs than they have been since the 1950s and the USA has never looked more impotent and less able to impose any sort of peace on the region.

While Israel has wisely held itself apart from the Kiev regime despite its many close connections to it, it is still part of the NATO bloc and therefore an enemy to both Russia and China. It’s not necessarily the best time to be the self-styled “greatest ally” of the United States.

The Big Cons and the Vassalization of Europe By Patrick Foy

Seeing what’s in front of your nose demands a constant struggle.—George Orwell

I’m in Munich, my favorite European city, if I throw out Venice. Is Venice actually a city? At one time it was the center of a vast Mediterranean empire. It strikes me as more of a sprawling, open-air museum frozen in time. I just left there. It was, as always, wonderful.

There is a serious problem with Munich. It is under constant construction and reorganization. The inner city was bombed to smithereens in the Second World War and had to be rebuilt from scratch. That project continues through force of habit.

Another annoyance: I invariably begin the day by digesting my two least favorite establishment media outlets—the Financial Times and the NY Times—while having breakfast. The hotel provides them free of charge. What can one do?

I owe it to myself to keep up-to-date with Washington’s Big Cons which run simultaneously and nonstop, e.g., Ukraine, China, Russia, Iran, Israel, etc. The FT print edition is available in Munich. I love print. At home, I’m stuck with the internet.

Simply put, the Big Cons are the trumpeted false narratives that (a) Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was unprovoked, (b) China wants to invade Taiwan and threatens the peace of the world, (c) Russia is an enduring enemy of the West, (d) Iran is building an atomic bomb to nuke Israel and must be stopped, (e) Israel is an innocent, peace-loving ally of America worthy of unlimited support.

Plus all the rigorous, irrational corollaries supporting these narratives.

A recent FT column by Gideon Rachman caught my eye in the breakfast room and caused heartburn. It seems that Europe has fallen behind America in many important ways. Who knew? Rachman appears to be stunned. This surprising trend apparently commenced in 2008, the year of the global financial crisis. Why?

Rachman proclaims, “The aggregate figures are shocking.” He is right. As a result, Europe’s chances of strategic autonomy from Washington have vaporized. It is a dependency, if not exactly a nonentity.

The trend to nullity was accelerated before our eyes thanks to this insane war in Ukraine. Although instigated in Washington by our neocon and neoliberal masterminds, the war has been enthusiastically embraced by Europe’s lazy, subservient leaders. Even neutral Switzerland was caught up in Ukraine hysteria.

Most importantly, Chancellor Olaf Scholz, holding hands with his “green party” partner, Foreign Minister Anna Baerbock, has shot Germany in both feet, if not in the head. At the behest of Washington, these two have decoupled Germany from inexpensive, easily-accessed Russian energy next door.

In the NY Times and the FT, this is called sanctioning Russia, but it is something more.

It is madness. The real loser, the real sanctionee, is the EU and Europe as a whole, especially its largest economy, Germany. That’s me talking, of course, not FT’s Gideon Rachman. He is “all in” with Washington’s latest lunatic crusade, which now targets Russia for destabilization and regime change.

Just in case the hoodwinked Chancellor Scholz might become bedeviled with second thoughts, Washington bombed the Nord Stream II pipeline awhile back. Check with Seymour Hersh for details.

Scholz has no choice now but to keep the blinkers on, pretend he is in charge, hope for the best, and do as instructed.

So the self-sanctioning of Europe continues in place. Indeed, the whole Ukraine affair is an American show, and can be viewed in large part as a Washington-directed de facto attack upon Europe, with cracked-brain European elites serving as collaborators in the enterprise.

The Europeans, just like the hapless Americans, don’t count and are along for the ride.

It is not only Russia and Ukraine which have been placed in harm’s way by Washington’s coercive machinations. It is Europe, America itself, and the world at large. This well-executed scheme, using Ukraine as the wedge, had been planned for years in Washington.

Rachman’s column is entirely based upon an observation in a study published by the European Council of Foreign Relations. Never heard of it? Neither had I. The paper is entitled, The art of vassalisation: How Russia’s war on Ukraine has transformed transatlantic relations. It is engaging and informative. It was published in April.

The authors detect a problem: “To survive and prosper in the long term, the Atlantic alliance still needs a European pillar that is both militarily capable and politically independent. But the alliance response to the war in Ukraine has made achieving that type of balance much harder.”

The paper takes off from there. The writers desire a Europe with more independence, so that the Atlantic alliance will be more balanced. It is unhealthy otherwise…a form of vassalisation.

Such is their reasoning. Yet, at the same time, they believe Washington is generally making the right decisions on Europe’s behalf.

They concede, “American leadership remains necessary in Europe because Europeans remain incapable of leading themselves.” And why is that? What is the solution?

This is unclear in view of America’s growing economic and technological dominance vis-Γ -vis Europe. On top of that, we have Washington’s ace in the hole: the U.S. Dollar which acts as the world’s reserve currency, the major prize for winning the Second World War.

The authors point out, “The US has profited from the continuing dominance of its currency to gain an ever expanding capacity to impose financial sanctions on its enemies and allies alike, without really needing anyone’s cooperation…. it is the US dollar and American control of the international financial system that have given the sanctions [against Russia] their bite .”

But now there is the China factor. “The US and its European partners may have returned to their cold war alliance habits, but of course the current geopolitical situation is vastly different than during the cold war.“ That difference, in a word, is China.

The authors note that Joe Biden’s misnamed “Inflation Reduction Act” which seeks to counter the rise of China runs contrary to European economic interests. But Europe is expected to swallow negative US strategic industrial policy because Washington is the provider of European security against nasty Russia.

I could go on. The paper is seductive. You have to accept its assumptions, fixated on Ukraine. The central premise is that Europe is in danger due to Russian aggression. That is a false premise. Putin’s Russia wanted a partnership with Europe, a Eurasian alliance that would have peacefully benefited all concerned.

That was viewed by Washington as a danger to its primacy in the world. Accordingly, the Washington foreign policy establishment has taken counter measures. The contrived war in Ukraine to discredit Russia is the result. The European states have run back to Washington for cover, having lost their ability to think straight. It’s a game.

If Europe genuinely wants more autonomy and independence, it should decouple itself from Washington, not Russia which, after all, is a part of Europe. Ostpolitik makes sense not just for Germany but for Europe as a whole.

There is no threat when mutual self-interests are at stake. I suggest NATO be disbanded and that the EU be expanded to include Russia.

This must sound extreme to readers fed on the pap of the NY Times and the FT, but it makes sense. It does not require a continuation of never-ending tensions between “the West” and Russia.

Why revert to the Cold War, when it and the Warsaw Pact are in the past? Why re-demonize Russia, when it has embraced trade and commerce?

The alternative is to follow the “hedges” suggested at the end of “The Art of Vassalisation”…

(1) Deploy western European forces to the east in greater numbers, so called “tripwire forces”.

(2) Increase European defense spending “on a much higher level” which “will be politically sustainable if it creates jobs in Europe and benefits domestic industry.” In effect, a EU military-industrial complex.

(3) Set up a US, EU, UK “geo-economic NATO” to coordinate industrial policy.

(4) Create a special EU-UK defense partnership.

(5) And last but not least, the kicker, consider a European nuclear deterrent, independent of the U.S. Europe’s two nuclear armed states, UK and France, would be the basis. “Macron has repeatedly offered to enter into a dialogue on this with his EU partners. It is now up to other member states, particularly Germany, to take them up on this offer.” Can you believe it? Forget nuclear nonproliferation. Go nuclear.

And Europe should do all of this why, exactly? Because Russia invaded Ukraine, and this dispute in Russia’s backyard constitutes an existential threat to Europe? I for one don’t buy it.

Let’s not go down that road which will lead to a dead-end. No tripwires for war. No additional nuclear bombs in Europe. For the love of humanity, let’s rethink everything before it is too late.

Our Titanic Juneteenth Pride //Another month in the Idiocracy - DONALD JEFFRIES

For a time in the late 1990s, after the hit movie Titanic was released, I became immersed in the subject. Which was a bit uncharacteristic for me, given its general non-conspiratorial nature. Only later would I learn about the critics of the upcoming Federal Reserve Act perishing, and even theories that the entire thing was faked.

This week, America 2.0 has been inundated with coverage of a handful of men becoming lost while sinking to the bottom of the ocean, in an effort to get a closeup view of the sunken liner. They were all wealthy enough to pay $250,000 each for the ultimate One Percent adventure. I didn’t pay much attention to the story at first, but once they claimed that the leader had made some ridiculous comments about not hiring any “50 year old White guys,” my spidey-sense was triggered. And then I learned that one of their wives was a descendant of a famous Titanic couple. Oh, the irony! But when I saw the craft they were in….

Really, that piece of junk looked a lot like one of those Apollo spacecrafts, which we are told traveled through the Van Allen radiation belt (which is supposedly impenetrable now), and the unimaginable dangers of space, protected by about four inches of aluminum foil lining. Aluminum foil isn’t even that foolproof on leftovers, but as we’ve been told many times, things were different in 1969. It was the Space Age. A president could make a phone call to the moon using a land line. That’s when men were men, and transgenders were not seen or heard. At any rate, if you’ve seen the craft, which is in the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, you’ll understand my point.

So this submersible thing really reminded me of those ramshackle Apollo crafts with the aluminum foil lining. And apparently these daring One Percenters didn’t even really test it out first. Well, to be fair, NASA never tested the Lunar Lander on earth, either. So they were just following the strategy of greater men than you or I. I don’t know what a craft that is going to plunge 13,000 feet to the ocean floor is supposed to look like, but I don’t think it ought to look like that. It kind of resembled a Disney ride from Animal Kingdom or something. But then again, I don’t think the Apollo spaceships looked like craft capable to flying to the moon and back should look, either. But what do I know? I’m a community college dropout.

When I started paying attention to this drama, it seemed to me there weren’t really any actual attempts at rescue going on. According to our habitually lying mainstream media, the Navy can only send a submarine down to the depths of 10,000 feet. What? So a craft that looked like it came out of some twelve year old’s back yard, which some wildly rich guys nevertheless paid a fortune for, was trusted to go deeper down in the water than our military submarines? Does that make any sense whatsoever? Shouldn’t a naval submarine be able to go as deep as it wants? Aren’t we the greatest country in the world? Reminded me of how our military did nothing at all while hijacked aircraft headed towards the Pentagon on 9/11. That’s some Military Industrial Complex!

It’s kind of mysterious how they can allegedly send unmanned probes to the outskirts of our solar system, but evidently can’t probe the deepest parts of our earthly oceans. It reminds me of how the Hubble telescope can give us those cool pictures of the Milky Way galaxy and such, but not zoom in on one of the Apollo landing sites on the moon. Or for that matter, give us a nice view of the giant spinning ball we all inhabit. Universal Studios came up with that iconic spinning ball image almost 100 years ago, when our space program was a mere twinkle in Werner von Braun’s then-Nazi eye. And yet they knew what it looked like. Somehow they knew. But they can’t get to a depth of 13,000 feet to perform a rescue. It’s a science thing, you wouldn’t understand.

Our military, like the rest of our monstrously expensive but useless bureaucracy, is really good at telling you what they can’t do. Which is pretty much anything that might make life better for people. Can’t control the border. Can’t cure cancer. Can’t end poverty. Can’t win the “war” on drugs. Can’t plow the roads during blizzards. Can’t keep the power on. Can’t hold the rich and powerful accountable under the law. So, saying they can’t conduct some kind of rescue for people 13,000 feet below the ocean- not 13,000 light years away, or even 13,000 miles, is par for the course for them. Which is why we have to keep giving them trillions to spend on…other things. Something. Like the police, they will never be there when you need them.

The state controlled media makes the excuses for them. They are their publicity agents. I wish I had a publicist like them. I’d sure sell a lot more books. But common people- the Sheeple who vote back in 96 percent of incumbents every election- also make excuses for them. I’ve encountered them on forums and social media. And they’re not getting paid millions like the “journalists” whose job it is to defend these corrupt and incompetent authorities religiously. They do it for free. Angrily speaking up for those who are Experts in Not Getting it Done, as Charles Dickens called them over 150 years ago. Try making excuses like that for not doing your work. You certainly won’t get any online trolls defending you.

Now this dramatic event, which was undoubtedly distracting us from other, more important things, took place very close to Juneteenth, the most preposterous federal holiday in our history. And also during Pride Month, the most preposterous celebratory month the “Woke” folks ever invented. Well, there was a lot to be proud of in just this one event. Proud of the trillions we’ve lavished upon our bloated defense budget, which is so incompetent it couldn’t even launch an effort to rescue Americans stranded on the ocean floor, near the beloved wreckage of the Titanic. Now, we could probably understand if they didn’t have the time to rescue some common riff-raff, but these were billionaires, or at least multi-multi millionaires. Don’t their lives matter?

That just doesn’t make me proud. But exactly who is supposed to be proud during Pride Month? What are we supposed to be proud of? As the late, great Norm MacDonald once said, it’s not an achievement. You haven’t accomplished anything by being gay. Can boring heterosexuals be proud of being heterosexual? How about sadists, or masochists, or exhibitionists? Voyeurs? I don’t know, stare into a window, even from a distance, and if you’re common riff-raff, you might go to jail. Be listed as a sex offender. I would advise any prospective voyeurs to dress in drag and see what happens. My guess is it will no longer be considered a crime.

Do bisexuals get to have “pride?” Like half-Blacks, maybe only half-pride? What about the impotent, who can’t afford Viagra? Can they be “proud” of their erectile dysfunction? Aren’t they very tangible victims, like so many others? How about the nuns and monks who actually honor their vows of chastity? Shouldn’t that be a source of pride? Isn’t celibacy some kind of virtue? Do the dwindling number of parents with very large families get to be proud of their broods during Pride Month? That used to be the case- parents being proud of having lots of children and all. It seems the definition of “pride” has changed quite a bit. Now, a parent can only be proud of their child if they come out of the closet.

During Pride Month, I want to speak up for all the lonely guys, the incels out there. The ones who get castigated as “creeps,” for looking at females, and even going so far as to ask them out on dates. Again, I suggest you dress in drag, and try staring. Or asking out. You will no longer be considered a “creep,” even if you remain an incel. You might even be able to fix that, too, by charging the woman you want to have sex with as a “transphobe.” After all, as a school system close to my area has shown, you can physically rape a girl in a public school restroom, and as long as you were dressed as a woman during the crime, you won’t be prosecuted.

The possibilities for transgenders are endless. The world really is their oyster now. You can be 6’4 and keep all your male equipment, like “Lia” Thomas, and be permitted to change in locker rooms next to pretty biological females before winning swim meets against them. You may well be awarded a “Woman of the Year” thing. And my guess is that, if Lia or some other “trans female” athlete has a “sexual emergency” in one of those locker rooms, like that forgotten migrant did when he raped an eight year old boy at a public pool, they probably wouldn’t be charged with rape. Or anything. I never heard the migrant with the “sexual emergency” was prosecuted.

So there are a lot of Idiocracy-style elements colliding all at once in just this month. Juneteenth? The name denotes stupidity. It’s basically an Ebonics name, for an Ebonics holiday. And if they kept it at the level of St. Patrick’s Day, or Valentine’s Day, I guess that would be alright. But when you make it a federal holiday, it’s in rarified company, representing the things your society considers most important. So how is a holiday most of us can’t even understand, and which has dubious historical significance, given the status of Christmas or Thanksgiving? Forget Easter, that’s about as important to this collapsing culture as National Pizza Day is.

I remember when Stevie Wonder and other Black celebrities began pushing for a federal holiday honoring Martin Luther King back in the 1980s. Now I love Martin Luther King, but was he really the greatest American who ever lived? You’d have to believe that, since no other individual historical figure has a federal holiday in his name. George Washington got bumped down to Presidents Day, where he shares the stage with the likes of Millard Fillmore. And those same Blacks weren’t quite as interested in exposing the truth about King’s death. Not interested in anything but getting the “racist” White establishment to cave in to their demands. To pander. What they do best. And it was no contest. Only Jesse Helms really spoke out against it.

So, in terms of honoring our past, America presently has Independence Day, Martin Luther King Day, and now Juneteenth as federal holidays. So two out of three concern the same 12 percent of the population that dominates commercials and the sports world. Our second largest minority group. That ought to tell you something about the cuckization of our society. Matt Gaetz, by the way, was caught in Congress the other day accusing John Durham, and by implication the conservative mainstream, with being the Washington Generals. That’s kind of amazing, given that ‘s become one of my talking points. I haven’t heard anyone else make that comparison. Maybe someone on his staff listens to my show.

Essentially, Juneteenth is George Floyd Day. No one had heard of it before the mostly peaceful protests in the summer of 2020. While pandering to his almost nonexistent Black support, Donald Trump promised to make Juneteenth a federal holiday during his 2020 campaign, and for good measure designated the truly invisible KKK as a terrorist group. But not Black Lives Matter. Congress didn’t pass a law making Juneteenth a federal holiday until June, 2021, when Joe Biden signed it. There is no doubt that Trump would have signed it, too. It’s not like it was legislation to station troops on the border and end government benefits for illegal immigrants.

“Fearless” podcast host Jason Whitlock, who happens to be Black, is the only voice I’ve heard who has exposed Juneteenth for the farce it is. Certainly no White voice is going to do it. Or any Hispanic or Asian voices either, apparently. Whitlock and his mostly Black fellow contributors do a nice job of calling out the “Woke” tyranny, and the celebration of ghetto culture. Whitlock and his frequent guest, former NBA first round pick Royce White, come very close to what I envisioned with my character Phosphate Jefferson, in my novel The Unreals. Phosphate represented my ideal Black figure, and the kind of Black person I would be. Like me, he pontificated and ranted a lot. So do Whitlock and White. Much of what they say could have come from my book.

Whitlock has the courage to tie everything he says to a Biblical world view. As he has pointed out, we are supposed to be reminded that pride goeth before the fall. Pride used to be considered a character flaw, if not a sin. But once they started propping up certain groups- recall Aretha Franklin’s iconic hit Respect Yourself, and inserted scenes in every Hollywood production of skinny females coldcocking large White males, that saying went down the memory hole, right alongside “There but for the grace of God go I.” Isn’t “White Supremacy” derived from pride? Why then, isn’t that being celebrated? The outfits of the Klan would coordinate nicely next to the garish and colorful costumes of the transgender brigade. Who are all, of course, very proud.

If they had wanted to make a federal holiday to honor lifelong street criminal George Floyd, how many Republicucks would have opposed it? Maybe they’ll throw Whitey a crumb and devote a federal holiday to Dylan Mulvaney. Or Lia Thomas. They could call it Mulvaney/Thomas Day, kind of like the antiquated White Supremacist Lee/ Jackson Day. To make conservatives happy, why not Caitlin Jenner? “She” was once the world’s greatest athlete, you know. But no dead, White “racist” males, like Thomas Jefferson. Remember, Harriet Tubman is the greatest woman in American history, according to our soon to be digitalized fiat currency. Our second largest minority group is truly a special lot. Who else can play cornerback or running back in the NFL?

So perhaps the fallen billionaires of the unimposing Titan didn’t die in vain. Maybe they got to see the actual Titanic before they blew up. The military is now informing us that they pretty much knew this laughable craft had exploded five days earlier. So they let the sheeple breathlessly follow the inane “journalists” covering the story, sitting tensely on the edge of their seats, when they already knew they were dead? Again, does that make any sense? All that’s left is for MSNBC or The New York Times to claim that their dying words were, “Long live Pride Month and Juneteenth!” If only there had been a Black on board, maybe they too could get a federal holiday.
