This will be a difficult read for many of you because of your ingrained presuppositions and binary thinking….. yes, propaganda does work! It sure did on me…until I started to read 15-20 years ago.
Are we as a nation capable of understanding war and its consequences? Since most of us only see war on TV, it is easy to dismiss them unless someone close to us wakes us to reality. Start here to learn the history you never knew:

dad of my best friend when I was in high school had served in the army. He
struggled with untreated PTSD & severe depression for 30 years, never told
his family. Christmas eve of 2010, he went to their shed to grab the presents
& shot himself in the head. That was the first funeral I attended where I
was actually told the cause of death & the reasons surrounding it. I went
home from the service, did some asking around, & found that most of the
funerals I’ve attended before have been caused by untreated health issues from
serving.” - The
US Army Asked Twitter How Service Has Impacted People. The Answers Were Gut-Wrenching.
- Caitlin Johnstone - After posting a video of a young recruit talking
to the camera about how service allows him to better himself “as a man and a
warrior”, the US Army tweeted,
“How has serving impacted you?”
As of this writing, the post has over 5,300 responses. Most of them are heartbreaking.
How
the Soldier’s Revolt Ended the Vietnam War – Joel Geier - “Of the 543,000 American troops in Vietnam in 1968, only 14 percent
(or 80,000) were combat troops. These 80,000 men took the brunt of the war. …In
1968, 14,592 men–18 percent of combat troops–were killed. An additional 35,000
had serious wounds that required hospitalization.”
The
hidden war
Our army that now remains in Vietnam is in a state approaching
collapse, with individual units avoiding
or having refused combat, murdering their officers and noncommissioned
officers, drug-ridden, and dispirited where not near-mutinous. Conditions among
American forces in Vietnam that have only been exceeded in this century by…the
collapse of the Tsarist armies in 1916 and 1917.

THE MOST neglected aspect of
the Vietnam War is the soldiers’ revolt–the mass upheaval from below that
unraveled the American army. It is a great reality check in an era when the
U.S. touts itself as an invincible nation. For this reason, the soldiers’

Why So Many Military Suicides?
More active-duty military personnel and veterans of
post 9/11 wars have committed suicide than the number of military personnel
killed in combat since then. Why are so many veterans and active-duty
military personnel killing themselves?
Sometimes
unsuspecting Christians are hit with a double whammy,
like when Independence Day or Veterans Day falls on a Saturday and churches
observe two patriotic Sundays—the one before and the one after—as if one day of
blasphemy and idolatry was not enough.
This
coming Sunday is another double whammy for Christians who are repulsed by the
blasphemy and idolatry that takes place in their churches on certain Sundays of
